Product Description

  • Infinite HDL-C is a reagent set for direct quantitative determination of HDL-Cholesterol in human serum or plasma based on Direct Homogenous method.
  • Direct measurement by .finite HDL-C overcomes the limitation of precipitation method thereby allowing accurate determination of HDL-C.
  • Infinite HDL-C is a ready-to-use, two liquid reagent system stable till expiry.

  • There is no significant interference in hyper-lipemic and hyper-immunoglobulinemic samples.

In the first step, LDL, VLDL & Chylomicrons are eliminated under specific conditions. In the second step, special reagents break up HDL and make HDL Cholesterol available for measurement.


The reagents R1 and R2 are ready-to-use.

Lyophilized calibrator should be reconstituted by adding 1.0 ml of distilled or deionized water. Dissolve the contents of the vial by swirling gently to avoid the formation of foam. Do not shake. Let stand for 20 minutes at room temperature before use.



  • The reagent kit should be stored at 2 - 8 degree C and is stable till the expiry date indicated on the label.
  • Reconstituted calibrator is stable for 3 days at 2 degree  - 8 degree C. Reconstitution stability of the calibrator may be extended up to 30 days by aliquoting and freezing the reconstituted calibrator preparation at less than -20 degree C.

Perform the assay as given below:

  • Mix and incubate for 5 minutes at 37 degree C. 
  • Measure the absorbance Al at 578 nm.

The expected value for serum HDL-Cholesterol are as follows:
  • Men : 30 - 70 mg/di
  • Women : 30 - 85 mg/di

Expected range varies from population to population. It is therefore recommended that each laboratory should establish its own normal range.


Blood should be collected in a clean and dry container. Although serum is preferred, anticoagulants such as heparin, citrate, oxalate, EDTA and sodium fluoride do not have significant influence on the assay when they are used in their usual amounts. Specimen analysis should be done immediately after collection. Do not use the specimens that are repeatedly subjected to freezing and thawing.


If the HDL-C value exceeds the linearity limit of 185 mg/dl, then dilute the specimen suitably with normal saline and repeat the assay. In such case the assay value should be multiplied with the dilution factor to obtain the correct HDL-C value of the specimen.


To ensure adequate quality control, it is recommended that each batch should include a normal and an abnormal commercial reference control serum. It should be realized that the use of quality control material checks both instrument and reagent functions together. Factors which might affect the performance of this test include instrument function, temperature control, cleanliness of glassware and accuracy of pipetting.
